INSPIRATIONS: A beginning beader's workshop.
SKILL LEVEL: Suitable for beginning beaders, those new to the technique or those wanting a refresher. Best if you have some experience with peyote stitch.
STITCHES: This workshop introduces you to designing and creating a Soutache (Russia braid) bead embroidery piece. You will learn basic soutache techniques and use peyote stitch if you add a cabochon to your design. Please note this is not a specific project but a technique class.

MaterialsBeading thread of your choiceBeading needlesPencilFeature beads or cabochon (see sample photos below).Mid-sized accent beads - a mix of some 6mm beads, 3 or 4 mm rounds or firepolished, bugles and /or lentilsFiller & edging beads - mixed seed bead ‘cocktail’ in colours of your choice including size 15/0 (about 10 grams), size 11/0, size 8/0 seed beads (approx 10 grams) and/or lentils3mm wide Soutache braid (also known as herringbone or Russia braid) - in two or three colours - approximately 1 metre of eachBead embroidery foundation square (e.g. Lucy's stiff stuff or Nicole's bead backing).Bead embroidery backing material (Ultrasuede or thin imitation leather in dark colour.Suitable clasp for your piece.OPTIONS
