I am currently looking for more information on the following items. If you have any information concerning these people in the Creely family, please contact me at russwarne (at) gmail (dot) com. Please remember that if your information does not come from a primary document or a reputable secondary source, then it is useless to me.
Documentation
Supposedly, Jean Baptiste Creely and Marie Françoise Ayete had a son named Jean Francois Creely in Point Coupée, Louisiana in 1736 or 1737. I have not found any proof that this occurred, and would appreciate any original documentation backing up this claim. I personally do not believe that this happened, because Jean Baptiste Creely was already in Kaskaskia by 7 September 1730, and Marie Françoise Ayete was there on 1 January 1732. It's possible that the family split their time between Point Coupée and Kaskaskia, though.
Some internet sources say that Joseph Creely married three times, although I can only find documentation for one marriage. Some people online claim that his third marriage was to "Jean Marie Cardinal," but this is a man's name. Evidence for any additional marriages would most likely be in the Prairie du Chien parish register, which I have not been able to find. Were there really later marriages? On a related note, if he did marry again, when did his first wife (Francoise Antaya) die?
Jean Baptiste Creely was supposedly christened in 1697 in Sainte Magdaleine parish, Besançon, Doubs, France. I am looking for an electronic copy (in pdf, jpg, or gif format) of his christening record.
Photos and pictures
At the Immaculate Conception Church in Kaskaskia, Illinois, there are several colonial-era artifacts inside, including a painting of the Immaculate Conception. Mass is held there at 3:30 PM every Saturday. I am not aware of any other time that the church is open. I would like photos of every pre-1800 object in the church.
I currently link to a painting of Joseph Creely/Crelie, which is in the Wisconsin Historical Society. A color image file (in pdf, jpg, or gif format) of this painting would be a nice addition to this site. Also, any paintings or photographs of Creely descendants would be appreciated. Remember, though, that for privacy reasons I will post any information on anybody living or any event that occurred after 1930.
Do you know the woman in the photo below? Cousin Neal says that in his family it's identified as a Walton woman (click here for the beginning of the Walton line), but her exact name is unknown. The image on the right is the back of the photo.
Filling in the blanks
There are many blanks in the vital information for some of the people on this web site (especially those who married into the Creely family). If you have any information that can replace a question mark, please send it to me with the appropriate documentation.
Contact
I am always eager to speak with other Creely descendants. Many of them have useful family legends and tidbits of information that add color to my knowledge about the family. I have exchanged dozens of emails and had wonderful phone conversations with distant cousins. I can be contacted at russwarne (at) gmail (dot) com.
