Cheam on the March

Post date: Sep 30, 2018 8:38:48 AM

In an exceptional year for Cheam in external competitions, the club have won the GC R League with 4 wins out of 4, the title being confirmed this month by closest contenders Rottingdean losing their final game. This is the highest level league we currently enter and was only our 2nd year competing at this level.

We had already secured the AC S League title and won an AC pairs competition at Southwick earlier in the season, so have won 3 trophies in the same year! Our handicap Gc League teams also performed strongly but could not quite match last year’s title-winning heights.

Individuals have also kept the Cheam flag flying this year with Robert Cook winning a prestigious B level event, Sue Nicholas winning the overall season title for the Surbiton one-day GC events and Colin Helps coming third this month in the National All England GC final this month ( see separate article). Finally, Liz Swinton and David Knill-Jones travelled to Bath to represent Cheam in the National Grass Roots final.

2018 is going to be a hard act to follow !
