Beside the Seaside ?!

Welcome to Croqueling-cum-Bowlet on Sea

The stiff breeze carried the ozone aroma of the seaside across the Cheam lawn, buffeting the windbreak and ruffling the beach towels. The seaweed, imported by David and Lydia from Rottingdean, was doing its job adding to the marine ambience of the day. Seagulls hovered, crabs crawled, lobsters waved their claws; albeit wooden and plastic versions. The seaside had come to our club.

On September 10th twenty one members enjoyed a picnic lunch on the" beach" at the exclusive resort of, Croqueling-cum-Bowlet on sea. As well as croquet and bowls there was the "hook a duck" competition, won by Margaret, with runners up Lucy and John. Liz and Viv proved their worth on the challenging five hole crazy golf. Nobody, or any animals, got hurt as the garden Jenga tower fell.

Jacky, Jean and Liz, just scraped half a point ahead of Lynne and Viv in the quiz, despite their musical knowledge being challenged by the brass bands playing tiddely om,pom, pom!

Thankfully the weather held, the sun came out and there was no sand in the lunch
