Massachusetts General Hospital Says Parental Alienation is Child Abuse

Preventing a child from seeing their other parent is child psychological abuse, even without all the manipulation, according to the recent Massachusetts General Hospital Comprehensive Clinical Psychiatry guide gives a history of psychological abuse definitions and then notes that psychological child abuse includes "withholding of interactions with other caregiver" and "refusing to acknowledge or allow inclusion in activities with family." According to US news, this hospital is rated as the best US hospital for Psychiatry, and third for overall care, right behind the Mayo and Cleveland Clinics. Refer to page 906 below for the quotes. To be clear, the MGH guide does not use the two words "parental alienation" but effectively withholding the interactions with other caregiver is that heart of parental alienation, where the withholding is by manipulation, which is even more abusive.
