St Malo and other Western Channel Ports to the Spanish Border

We have traveled from St Malo several times and have also used Ouistreham, Cherbourg and Le Havre.
We use the longer western channel ferry, for a shorter UK journey to the port and to save 800 km and 2 days driving on the return journey.
The saving in fuel (approx £100) and around £175 in tolls (if autoroutes used for the bulk of the journey), largely offsets the extra ferry cost.
Major cities en-route Rennes, Nantes and Bordeaux all have ring roads and we have not found them to be a problem.

Time: 2 days
Tolls: €21.3 unless joining A10 at Mirambeau see notes.
Leave St Malo or Ouistreham in the direction Rennes and stay on the N137.
This road can be followed all the way to the A10 J40a north of Bordeaux but we join the A10 at J37 near Mirambeau to avoid a section of the N137 that swings out towards Blaye through undulating countryside (cost €6.8, 2012)
A10 toll free section joins the Bordeaux N230 ring road at J1, follow direction Arcachon, Bayonne and Toulouse. Leave at J15. The A63 joins the N10 after 48 km, after 145 km rejoin the A63 now a toll road, tolls €21.3 (paid in 5 stages)
We then leave at J2 for Camping Larrouleta an ideal halt before moving on to Spain .
