SEPTEMBER 2025:
September's theme will be 'the Night' and will include music by Lionel Ritchie, Moody Blues and Frank Sinatra.
AUGUST 2025:
On August 1 the group looked at music relating to Winter. Pieces such as 'Winter' from the Four Seasons by Vivaldi and the Simon and Garfunkel number, 'A Hazy Shade of Winter' were covered. Dean Martin and Billie Holiday also got a look in with 'Baby it's Cold Outside' and 'Solitude.'
FEBRUARY 2024:
This session looked at the art of making sound and how movies are made. It then moved on to listening to some music from movies.
OCTOBER 2023:
In October we listened to a range of music suggested by one of our members, which included some fun pieces from childhood and additional pieces that brought back memories of other times.
SEPTEMBER 2023:
In September members enjoyed Peter’s presentation of a range of popular and classical pieces.
October’s session will be a range of music including some fun pieces from childhood and other pieces that bring back memories of other times.

JULY 2023:
Sylvia will be leading Music Appreciation on Friday 7 July, and it will again be a water theme, but this time "water sports and activities."

JUNE 2023:
On Friday 2nd June the session is being run by Peter, who will be presenting some of his favourite pieces of music which will include both popular and classical pieces.
MAY 2023:
The May Music Appreciation centred around the topic of ‘Water’. Pieces presented were written about rivers, lochs and seas, such as; Fingal’s Cave, La Mer and Moon River.
The Rockhampton Youth Orchestra has a concert which is being held on the 28th of May at the Walter Reid Cultural Centre in room 1-5. Please contact the Walter Reid Cultural Centre for more details.
Recent activities have involved pop questions, music from Scandinavia, groups from the 1930s onwards and pieces with unusual instruments.
Due to Good Friday, there will be no session in April.
Peter will present the session in May which will feature the music of Bert Bacharach. Bert was a prolific composer, and over the years his works were recorded by a great number of well-known artists.
