CRYPTIC CROSSWORDS

Beginners class meets 4th Tuesday of the month at 10am at the Community Centre, Room C.
Advanced class meets on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 10am - room to be determined (please check the calendar). 

This group has been running since February 2024 and is based around a series of videos created by former U3A tutor Barry Lynch. You will learn all the tricks involved in solving these puzzles. Remember to bring a pen, paper and an eraser.

JANUARY 2026:

The Beginners class will kick of on Tues 27th January at 10am in Room C.
The Advanced class will resume on Wed 11 February at 10am - please chec the calendar to see which room. 

JULY 2025:
We had our first advanced course Wednesday 9th July which was well received. Our beginners’ class commenced on Tuesday 22nd July, so if you want to learn how to nut out  these tricky puzzles come along to learn all about it.

OCTOBER 2024:

Due to popular demand, the group is now holding two sessions per month as they continue to explore the different methods of solving the puzzles!

JUNE 2024: 

Many thanks to Warwick S for running the Cryptic Crossword class in June.  We will will continue with "Barry" in our July class which will be Tuesday 23rd July in Room B, Community Centre @ 10am. 

MAY 2024: 

On Tuesday 28th May Cryptic Crosswords will investigate reversals, hidden words and omissions. The session begins 10am 

APRIL 2024: 

We have been looking at 'containers' and 'charades' as types of clues. 

MARCH 2024: 

A group of 10 people attended the first class and there were a few 'light bulb' moments as we caught on to anagrams.
