"Third Age" refers to the period of active retirement, which follows the first age of childhood and formal education and the second age of working life, and which precedes the fourth age of dependence.

The term “University” is used in the original sense of the word - of an association or community of teachers and scholars, united in the pursuit of knowledge.

U3A is a community organisation which promotes healthy aging by sharing educational, creative and leisure activities provided by members. 

Qualifications are not required for membership and we award no degrees or diplomas.  We are a lively and friendly group offering a wide range of activities and we welcome all seniors to our organisation.

Our group was established in 1989, and has been growing and developing since then. We now have over 150 members from along the Capricorn Coast and hinterland. Our programs are continuously developing as new members join and bring their skills and knowledge to our community. Our 'classes' are semi-formal and provide members with topics of interest and learning. We do not offer any formal classes for qualifications of any kind (we are not that type of university!). Members have fun, and all activities take place in a supportive, encouraging and very sociable environment.
