52a. I -Style (Toronto)
The I -Style is basically a tall, narrow structure that fits in small lots where other styles are simply too large. This usually has occurred in the older sections of large cities.
Although there are a few similarities, the ` I - Styles` over time have often changed to a wide variety of looks.
The normal inside comprises, on the main floor, a house-wide living room, an eat-in kitchen, and two sets of stairs. (An all season verandah is a tremendous addition.)
The congested basement is mainly useful for storage.
The second floor has two smallish bedrooms and a full, but tiny, bathroom.
The attic makes a fine office or simply a great get-away.

Where to find it
You may have noticed that all of my examples come from Toronto ( the Leslieville area to be more exact). I have not had the opportunity to search out other areas but I believe that I`d find other versions in Montreal, Ottawa and perhaps, Kingston.
Numerous homes, using this style, were constructed in the American Midwest from 1828 to 1880.
