Sivewright Quaich Tournament 2025

On Sunday 14 September at Prestonfield G.C. the Captain’s team retained the Sivewright Quaich with a 4 & 3 victory over Thorntree (Royal Musselburgh G.C.)

This marks a significant milestone for the Club—not only is it the first time we’ve successfully defended the trophy, but we are also the first Club to win the tournament five times. A truly remarkable achievement.

In the match:

• The opening pair, Sykes & Hunter, recovered quickly after losing the 2nd hole, going 2 up by the 5th and maintaining their lead through the front nine.

• The second pairing, Notman & Dunn, went 2 up early but were all square at the turn.

On the back nine:

• Sykes & Hunter lost the 10th, won the 11th with a good up-and-down, but lost the 14th to stand 1 up.

• Notman & Dunn won two of the first three holes after the turn to go 2 up by the 12th, but then lost the next three to go 1 down on the 15th.

The front pair then won three consecutive holes from the 15th to finish 4 up after the 17th. Meanwhile, the two Johns won the 16th to square their match, securing the overall win at 4 & 3.
