"Cultural confinement takes place when a curator imposes his own limits on an art exhibition, rather than asking an artist to set his limits." Robert Smithson
How great is the work of the NEW YORK MUSEUM, and Nancy Holt, to pull this off, (Smithsons idea Floating island) WoW what a tribute to Smithson, I think of their actually doing this often. It to me; is as great a tribute to an artist as Van Gogh to Millet, like Millet Smithson stepped back and viewed the wide WHOLE perspective, I have try to emulate their wide perspective reality in my life as an economist as a Historian as a socioeconomist as a Derivative specialist, but mostly as a plasterer for 35 years. Kevin Dwayne blanch 2/18/11 Smithson patted me on the head in 1970 at the jetty my grandfather Abraham Hunsaker , and my father Dwayne blanch had bid the project, Mr. Whittaker s company which was a byproduct of my Uncle Al Hunsaker (Brigham city white sand guru and founder Al and Tom Hunsaker my great Uncles) did the work. We went to the site my father and I, it has been a great inspiration to me my entire life.
one of my all time fav. pcs. kevin d. blanch 1 of 20 made Deru, my freind
Vase made from the dismantled 1904 U.P. causeway , the removal of the 1904 causeway and replacement with the blasé causeway causes the red to become much redder than it did before the 1950s blasé causeway, I have lived right next to it for 50 years, that is WHY the red is so red, the jetty to me is so much more than line, and minimalism, it is COLOR, red water on blue vista, on white salt against black rock placed and natural. It is a picnic in October at the jetty, it is an amazing inspirational visual Masterpiece, you can see the blurring of color in the human eye NATURALY, it is one of the only places on earth this happens. my fav. vid I have ever shot, one of my best works of art I have ever done ( this said vid.)
The blurring of the red against the blue and white is something I did not see until I viewed the vid. I am an hhhhHuge LOVER OF cccOLOR. Kevin d. blanch 2/18/11 Utah in October at the jetty is as color as color can color, nothing for miles and miles and miles but the natural landscape and Smithson’s work.

“When a finished work of 20th century sculpture is placed in an 18th century garden, it is absorbed by the ideal representation of the past, thus reinforcing political and social values that are no longer with us. “ Robert Smithson
