THIS TITLE IS NEGOTIABLE
This movie is about an alien robot probe that comes to earth
The main part of the probe is a tiny robot referred to as "the carrier", this is the part that actually does the exploring on the ground
The other part of the probe is a unit that stays in space and is always positioned directly above the carrier (but it doesn't necessarily HAVE to be)
The unit in space referred to as "the supplement", assists the carrier in various ways
The Carrier (primary unit)
Even though the carrier is much smaller than the supplement, it is still considered the "main" part of the system
It's a spider-like machine that is difficult to see with the naked eye, but very fast for its size
it can't fly, but it can jump very far... it can cling to any surface, and even change it's color to a certain degree
It is not affected by magnetic fields, EMP's, etc... It can survive extreme temperatures, radioactive, acidic and/or corrosive environments, high pressure, or a total vacuum
it is only mildly affected by shock waves due to its high density
That being said, it's still a machine... a direct blow with a hammer would completely destroy it... It's not really fragile, but even being stepped on by an adult human could potentially damage it
On its own, the carrier runs out of power VERY fast... in less than a minute it will deplete its entire onboard power supply
Fortunately, there are a few different ways in which it can maintain that supply...
The initial source, while it's traveling through space, is its partner, the supplement, which has plenty of power due to some kind of alien technology
When the carrier separates from the supplement and descends to the ground it only has a minimal onboard reserve
If the carrier doesn't find another source of power almost immediately,
the supplement can transmit a beam of energy to the carrier on the ground to keep it running,
Even if the carrier were to be completely dead, the supplement could boost it back to life again... given that it hasn't been damaged or compromised in any major way
but this beam IS detectable and VERY destructive to anything that comes in contact with it... if a plane flew through the beam, it would slice the plane in half and not interrupt the beam
there is almost nothing that can block or deflect the full power of the beam, but if something does, the supplement can adjust the power and bounce it off of reflective surfaces in order to reach the carrier
Of course, this method of power is only needed in rare emergencies
The primary method of acquiring power while the carrier is on the ground comes from its hosts
The carrier attaches to any living thing and quickly takes control of the complete functionality of the organism, this includes humans
It uses different organisms for different purposes, but humans eventually become it's preferred choice
the problem with using humans is that when the carrier separates from a host (normally due to the host being completely depleted of energy) the host does not survive... ever!
even if the carrier detaches from a host immediately after connecting to it, the host will still die
A hosts life expectancy depends on what the carrier does with it, but usually ends up being radically shorter than what it would be naturally
Often times the carrier will use an organism to its maximum possible capacity until it is spent and then it jumps to the next available organism
It is believed that the host is not aware of what's happening to it and feels no pain... any conscious part of the organism is effectively turned off immediately upon being hijacked and never comes back on
a host can even be used while heavily damaged until it's vital biological systems cease functioning
To a certain degree, the carrier can also reroute biological resources inside an organism by shutting down and/or activating different parts of the brain in order to facilitate specific anatomy
let's say the host is a human, and its energy level is dwindling, and it has also received some significant damage, the carrier can shut down the hearing, smell, taste, waste, reproductive, lymphatic, etc. systems
It can temporarily or permanently shut down entire internal organs like the kidneys and liver, and concentrate all of that energy to a single system in order to hyperactivate a function or process...
The Supplement (space-based support unit)
This device and the carrier probe are technically 2 parts of a single system and cooperate as such
It is assumed that there is some form of digital link between the two machines, but that connection can't be confirmed
The supplement only has a single onboard weapon, which is the same device that is occasionally used to supply emergency power to the carrier
The beam itself is tiny and basically invisible (the size of the beam is comparable to a laser pointer), but so much energy is released that it turns the atmosphere around it into plasma
this is highly visible and causes the beam to appear much larger than it actually is... when used in space the beam is completely invisible
The energy released by the weapon, when in use, is so intense that it causes radio interference within a fairly large radius
Needless to say, this weapon is devastating to everything that it touches... there are certain materials that take a little longer for the beam to burn through, but essentially nothing can shield against it
The carrier, of course, is specially equipped to deal with the effect of the beam, and is never adversely affected by it... actually, quite the opposite is true
The weapon has virtually unlimited range, with amazingly precise aim, it can even target things that are buried deep underground
It can locate an unlimited number of targets simultaneously, but it can only engage one at a time...
fortunately, it is extremely fast, and almost any target can be destroyed with only a tiny burst of the weapon, and in the blink of an eye
When fired at targets that are underwater, the beam vaporizes large volumes of water into steam and can cause smaller bodies of water to boil away entirely
The supplement is vigorously defensive, and will even destroy harmless weather satellites that happen to get too close
It's targetting system is so precise that it even defends against space debris as small as a grain of sand...
Although it does have some armor, the supplement is also just a machine... a direct hit by even a spec of paint traveling at hypervelocity could cause catastrophic damage
fortunately, for any object to actually make contact with the supplement, appears to be impossible
the supplement's main focus is on the survival of the carrier
If necessary, it can destroy a threat from space before the carrier ever even gets close to it
The Mission
Technically, the probe's mission is not to unnecessarily "kill" organisms, that just happens to be an unfortunate effect of how it operates
and it IS aware of the fact that the things that it takes over will not survive
If it finds out that a certain species is "endangered", if possible it will select something else
generally, these probes explore terrestrial planets with life, but the vast majority of the time planets are inhabited by very primitive forms of life
It's essentially there to discover the different forms of life and basically make its way to the top of each evolutionary ladder in order to find the most advanced genomes
Although the probe doesn't technically "care" about how advanced any "intelligent" life is on a given planet, there is a noticeable sense of "excitement" when species with "high intelligence" are discovered
It is extremely rare to discover life forms as advanced as humans
Planets that are equivalent, in terms of technology, to the one from which the probe originated, have never been discovered
Normally high intelligence life forms are detected from space before the probe even arrives at the target planet, due to the observation of large unnatural structures
Conflict
If the communication link between the carrier and the supplement is jammed or interrupted in any way, that triggers the supplement to switch into "not happy" mode
when in this mode, the supplement becomes increasingly desperate to reconnect with the carrier
there is no amount of destruction that the supplement will not cause in order to find the carrier, this will quickly develop into a catastrophic level of destruction and a severe loss of life
this is due to the fact that if one part of the probe is destroyed, the other part ceases functioning (humans are never aware of this fact)
The carrier, although not as capable of such widespread destruction, also enters into this sort of panic state
To the extent of its capabilities, the carrier will go to any length to make itself visible to the supplement again
Additionally, this mode automatically sends a signal back to the probe's planet of origin,
this alerts and activates an array of other FAR more powerful machines specifically designed to reduce things to their fundamental constituent parts (vaporize them)
Capable of such high-speed travel that it is equivalent to basically teleporting across the universe
This action can be halted given that the probe returns to its normal operating mode again
In that case, the astonishingly intimidating and unquestionably formidable battalion of war machines will simply turn around and go back home
This, of course, would be the best possible outcome for the well being of everything on the planet, and even the planet itself due to the almost incomprehensible destructive power of the alien fleet...
It's best to just allow the probe to carry out its task and then leave on its own... In other words, DON'T FUCK WITH IT!!!!! (excuse the french)
Just let it do what it wants to do, don't get in it's way... yes, a handful of animals, bugs, and humans will die, but this is the best case scenario
This is the classic "struggling only makes it worse" type of situation...
Statistically, it's highly unlikely that you will end up hosting the probe, so just relax and let artificial intelligence run its course...
MORE TO COME...
