"patent pending"
THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE IDEAS, AND IT WILL MAKE US RICH!!!!!
PEOPLE WANT THIS, I KNOW THAT FOR A FACT!
I SPOKE TO AN "ENGINEERING RESEARCH SCIENTIST" AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS WHO SAID
THAT THIS IDEA WOULD ABSOLUTELY WORK, AND WOULD NOT BE HARD TO MAKE!!!!!!!
This is a sliding glass door assist that I designed to make it easier for handicapped and elderly people to use the door. When someone goes to open the door the device senses it and provides enough power to make the door feel like it is basically weightless. I like this method of activation because it allows the system to be operated the same way from both sides using the same mechanism. After the door opens it pauses for a specified amount of time and then slowly closes by itself. Of course there would be a safety measure in place that will detect interference, stop the door, reopen it, and then try again. It would NOT be used to secure the door in any way, and can be easily overpowered if neccessary, but there is a door chime function that can be enabled in order to alert when the door is in use.
This system is portable and does not require actual installation. An adjustable bar extends across the door easily, and is calibrated using an integrated auto-leveling laser beam. The drive box sticks to the glass using high power suction cups and has a slot that the support bar fits into that connects them together. The system is battery operated and has a solar panel on the back side that constantly charges the battery while the sun is out, or it can be charged using an ac adapter.
