This takes place in a world where occasionally a person will simply vanish instantly
not real often, maybe an average of a hundred people per year around the entire world
totally random times and locations, but always just one at a time
this happens to any and every age, race, gender, etc...........totally indiscriminately across all characteristics of human
nobody has ever returned, for that reason it is classified as, "death by quantum deconstruction", a term coined by several theoretical physicists who are studying what little they can about these events
no animals have ever been witnessed getting "blinked"
"Blinked" - The slang word for the phenomenon of human disappearance. This is due to the fact that these occurrences are described as happening "faster than the blink of an eye". Since they are totally random and also permanent, only the past tense of the word can ever actually be used in real cases. It can't be described as "blinking", because there is no recognized process that is taking place for a known period of time. A commonly used empty threat would be to tell someone that you are going to "blink" them, which is just an obviously exaggerated insinuation that you have the power to do such a thing.
------------------------------------------------------------------------ THE ACTUAL SUBJECT OF THIS SHOW --------------------------------------------------
Most of the focus is on the advanced machines that travel at nearly the speed of light. a lot of the time we will be observing these systems at their "real time", which means time to actual humans is stopped.
This machine contains countless extremely tiny robots.
Each of the little robots are like stainless steel kitchen equipment looking swiss army knife spiders (full description still undecided)
Even though there are literally billions of them, each one has a personality.
Their job is to basically surgically disassemble organisms with flawless efficiency, and to see the whole thing in action, certainly seems like that's what's happening,
but when you zoom into particular individual components, you notice that this system is definitely not without it's issues.
For the most part these robots are perfect. There are all different types of performance characteristics to these machines, and they interact with each other much like the real world that "WE" know.
There even seems to be different "sexual" like dynamics resulting in behaviors, such as some robots flirting with others, being "interested in" or attracted to each other.
There are some robots with the reputation of being completely incompetent, and there are some that are highly recognized, looked up to, and sometimes even stalked by obsessed admirers.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PERFORMANCE------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The robots take people apart in thin slices using long thin blades that seem to be forever sharp. They fold each slice almost like a person would do with a towel.
Then they open some kind of extra dimensional portal and give the article to another robot that is waiting inside of it.
This storage system seems unlimited in terms of capacity, and the robots can open it anywhere.
However there are strange attributes to these portals, such as:
Sometimes the robot in the portal won't be there immediately, but it will suddenly show up having a sort of suspicious or awkward demeanor.
Sometimes the portal won't open all the way and things have to be inserted however possible.
Sometimes the robot in the portal will be in a shitty mood, even going as far as to reject deliveries from certain robots that they don't like
From the perspective of the robots, harvesting an entire human being takes a long time
Because the robots are so small and take such extremely small slices of the body at a time... there's never an appearance of "gore"
and since time is essentially stopped relative to the "natural" human perspective, there is never any type of recognizable "mess" that would possibly be disturbing
The robots don't even view people as living things because they don't move... basically, people are like trees the size of mountains to them, and they are like the lumberjacks
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TWISTS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just by chance an experimental camera is able to capture a few frames of a "blink" event
After discovering that it is some kind of robot, theoretical and quantum physicists create a device which will detect when and where a blink has occurred
A network of these machines is developed which are ultimately successful in scanning little bits of the robot each time it appears within range
Of course all of this information is kept from the public and classified as "TOP SECRET"
eventually, by studying the robot, scientists are able to develop a machine that can speed up enough to match the robot in order to deliver messages to it
