ELECTION SYSTEM IDEA

I think that everyone should get their ballots back in the mail

after they have filled out the ballot and either mailed it in or delivered it in person

the ballots are fed through machines that record them and then stamp them with a special mark

and then they should be mailed back to the person who filed it, or made available to pick up for those who don't have a mailing address...

this will give the voter the peace of mind that their vote was counted and not just thrown away...

Currently, as far as i'm aware, you can check to see if your vote was received by going to a certain website,

but that only shows you that it was "received"... which doesn't necessarily mean that it was counted

it could have been "received" and then thrown immediately into the trash...

The reason I say this is because someone related to my wife somehow sent in an absentee ballot,

she checked the website to confirm that it had been received... and according to their system, it had been...

but she then received the package containing her ballot in the mail with the message "return to sender" stamped on it...

there was clear evidence that her vote had been viewed before being sent back to her...

there was no reason why her vote should have been returned other than someone refusing to accept it based on who she was voting for...

the system still says that it was received, even though she has the ballot in her possession...

Of course I am wondering why they would send it back to her instead of just throwing it away, if it is the case that they are trying to interfere with the election process in that way

but I can't dismiss the details of this situation...
