Barrett's affects the oesophagus, or food pipe, that takes food to the stomach as described in this chapter of the Down With Acid encyclopaedia.
However, by continuing up the oesophagus and breaching the upper sphincter, the reflux that helped the formation of the Barrett's, can affect the respiratory system as described in the Extra-Oesophageal reflux chapter.
