Ingredients:
- Red Lentils — 1/2 cup
- Onion — 1, peeled and sliced
- Ginger — 1/4 inch, peeled and grated
- Garlic — 2 cloves, peeled and grated
- Chillies — 1 fresh, stalk removed and cut into thin slices
- Tomato — 1 small, sliced
- Chilli powder — 1/2 tsp
- Tumeric powder — 1/2 tsp
- Coriander powder — 1.5 tsp
- Cumin powder — 1 tsp
- Salt — 1 tsp
- Oil — 2 tbsp
- Water — 1.5 cup
Method:
- Heat the oil in a pan, add the onion and fry until it is golden brown.
- Add the ginger, garlic and chillies and fry for a couple of minutes.
- Add the tomatoes and fry until the tomatoes go mushy.
- Add the coriander, cumin, turmeric and chilli powders and fry very well.
- Add the lentils, stir and add the water.
- Stir well, cover and simmer, stirring frequently, until the lentils are ready (15 - 20 minutes).
- Stir and add the salt to taste.
