Got the recipe here: I didn't follow any actual recipe this time, though this was based on our memory of the amazing Beef & Blue Pizza at Big Grove Brewery in Solon, IA.
Made on: 02/27/2016
INGREDIENTS
For the pizza:
For the sauce:
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Preheat the oven to 400. Set aside a little bit of the blue cheese to crumble on top of the pizza. Combine the rest of the sauce ingredients and heat them until they are good and melty.
2. Put both flatbreads on a lined baking sheet. Add enough sauce to lightly coat each. Sprinkle red pepper flakes as desired (we used a lot, and it was pretty spicy).
3. Add a layer of the thinly sliced sweet potato. We had more than enough sweet potato slices!
4. Distribute the steak and onions evenly across the pizzas.
5. Drizzle the remaining sauce over the pizzas. Sprinkle more red pepper flakes, if you dare!
6. Bake the pizzas for 15-20 minutes. Let sit for a few minutes, then slice each flatbread into four pieces.
Notes:
· I am terrible about measuring ingredients, but I did my best to recount everything accurately here!
· If you are ever in Solon, do yourself a favor and stop by Big Grove Brewery. Even if you don't have this pizza there, you won't be disappointed with anything you order!
Overall Satisfaction: I was a little worried that this wouldn't live up to my memory of the original, but it was really, really good. Having our pizza on a flatbread keeps us from going back for more, which we totally would!
Would I Make it Again? Yes! We don't get steak very often, but I will make a point to get it for this. I can already tell this is going to be a husband favorite!
