In January 2026, I developed a ZBLL recognition that uses just the visible stickers within the UF and UR bars. The UBL corner, LUF sticker, BRU sticker, UL edge, and UB edge aren't involved. The link to the document is above. This is sort of a sub-concept within Straughan recognition, but I decided that it deserved its own page so that it can be better highlighted.
ZBLL prediction while solving the last pair should be easier than in other recognition methods. The final moves of the last pair will almost always be R U R' or R U' R'. During both of those, the UR edge and UBR corner currently in those positions stay in place, giving an easy quick glance to obtain part of the necessary ZBLL information. Then for R U R' or R U' R', specific spots to watch can be learned.
dFR pair:
R U R': After performing R U R', the stickers visible on the pieces currently occupying the dFR slot will go to the UFl position, which is naturally part of the recognition system. All that remains is to watch the corner that goes from UBL to UFR.
R U' R': After R U R', the pieces within the FR 1x1x3 bar will connect with the UR edge and UBR corner. A look at these before R U R' gives all of the information necessary to recognize the five pieces that will be within UB and UR.
dBR pair:
R' U R: URf pair stays in place, UFl pair necesssary stickers fully visible, and watch the corner that goes from UBR to UFL. Or, use the pieces currently within the BR 1x1x3 bar that connect with the URf pair.
R' U' R: URf pair stays in place, pair at dBR goes to UBl, corner at UFL goes to UBR, all forming five connected pieces at UB and UR.
dFL and dBL pair: Either hold the cube with the left side visible while solving the last pair and mirror the dFR and dBR strategies, or create new strategies to watch pieces that are on the right side.
Even more advanced would be to recognize the case that will occur from any pair situation AUF and using any three corners and two edges.
