Phylloscopus collybita - Motacilla cinerea
Phylloscopus collybita (Chiffchaff) is one of the commonest winter visitors (the commonest warbler of this season) and can spread to various habitats.
I always observe several Motacilla cinerea (Grey Wagtail),on the contrary i didn’t manage to observe any Actitis hypoleucos (Common Sandpiper) the last forty days.

An immature or female Phoenicurus ochruros, very common winter visitor.
It shares the habit of constantly vibrating its tail, with several other species like wagtails (motacilla genre) and Actitis hypoleucos (Common sandpiper). A possible reason of this habit is to become unseen while foraging beside a stream. Are there any other possible evolutionary explanations ?

Erithacus rubecula (Robin) is one of the commonest and easiest birds to observe in urban environment, especially in winter. Κοκκινολαίμης.
Probably the commonest introduced species, here just before roosting at Rema Pikrodafnis 3/10. Becomes more and more widespread throughout all Athens urban parks.

A degraded wetland in the heart of Athens can still host very interesting birdlife, especially migratory birds.
This Actitis hypoleucos (Common Sandpiper) is there since 4/9, probably trying to recover.

Κότσυφας Turdus merula
Μήκους 25 εκατοστών, το αρσενικό είναι κατάμαυρο με ζωηρό πορτοκαλοκίτρινο ράμφος οφθαλμικό δακτύλιο. Το θηλυκό είναι κυρίως καστανωπό με καστανό ράμφος.
Μελωδικό πουλί, ιδιαίτερα το αρσενικό που αφήνει ένα ευχάριστο, ηχηρό τερέτισμα γεμάτο ποικιλία. Ο Κότσυφας πετάει γρήγορα, χαμηλά και ακανόνιστα κάνοντας σπασμωδικές κινήσεις. Τρέφεται με έντομα, σκουλήκια, μικρούς καρπούς και φρούτα.
Φωλιάζει κυρίως σε πυκνούς θάμνους, μερικές φορές και πάνω στα δέντρα. Το Μάρτιο το θηλυκό γεννάει 4-6 γαλαζοπράσινα αβγά με κόκκινες κηλίδες και τα κλώσσαει επί 13-15 μέρες. Την περιποίηση των μικρών, που φτερουγίζουν από τη φωλιά μετά από 12- 15 μέρες, αναλαμβάνουν και οι δύο γονείς.
