I always liked watching 'Password' on the Game Show Network when I was growing up. I turned it into a learning game when I was a Supplemental Instructor for a statistics class in grad school. I decided to bring it back to the classroom in February 2013. It's a very easy game to set-up. All you need to do is make your own deck of cards using the vocabulary words from your textbook. The ones I've made so far (including instructions) are below:
Statistics Classes
Statistics Password
Normal Distribution Password
Math for Elementary Teachers Classes
Addition Password
3-Dimensional Geometry Password
Student Praise for 'Password'
"It was a fun way to review what we learned in the course so far. When only given one word to guess from, it really got me thinking way back to what was learned the first couple of weeks of class."
'I liked the game because it was original. It made us use memory as well as auditory and visual skills. I liked that it made me go through all my notes in order to find the answer."
"I liked that it forced us to think about the various terms. It allowed us to see if we really understood the material."
"It helped us review the material we learned in class. It was a good review before the in-class assignment."
"I liked how it challenged both the hint-giver and the guesser. It challenged the hint-giver to think of the best one word to give, which made them use their own, best knowledge. It also challenged the guesser to recollect their own memory, yet also improve and 'edit' their knowledge, too."
