This is a game for multiplying polynomials that also reinforces polynomial vocabulary (such as coefficient, degree, monomial, binomial, and trinomial). The idea came from my frustration about the fact that I had no games that involved 'tally sheets'. The game is called 'Chance It!' because of all of the different variables that are involved in playing the game, from the draw of the cards to the placement of the score on the sheet. So far only 12 students have played this game, but they gave me really good feedback on how to improve the game.
Student Praise for "Chance It!"
"I would describe it as fun and exciting. At first I was a little confused, but once you get the hang of it, it made it competitive, which was a lot of fun. If you can't tell, I love competition!"
"This game was a great way to refresh your skills. The Yahtzee style game is also very enjoyable and is a great way to get to know your classmates."
"I just learned a new game and would like to play again sometime. Also learned/refreshed some of the verbal expressions that I was still in the process of learning (considering that English is my 3rd Language."
"I liked that it made us think on the spot about what to multiply and add together."
