Founding date of organization

The "ALEXANOR" CFSI is private organization, which was found in 1991 by Sergey G. Popov.

Aims of the organization (from statute)

Fauna, biology and zoogeography studying of butterflies and implementing of it to the science is main aim of CFSI "ALEXANOR". A territory of studying is Palaearctic zoogeographical zone. We are especially interested in butterflies populations which inhabit Ukrainian territory at present time. So, the “ALEXANOR” CFSI is a non-profit conservation organization working to save threatened butterflies and their habitats, and the last of Ukrainian wildlands through advocacy, research and education. Company works with such different purposes as

• • exchanging of the information on this theme with scientists centers;

  • collecting and studying of bibliography modern achievement of entomological systematic and faunistic;

  • studying of state national and private collections at the museums;

  • edition of the regional catalogues, atlases, guidebooks and popular literature on butterflies;

  • propagation of lepidopterology as science about butterflies;

  • studying morpho-biological peculiarities of butterflies and their behavior;

  • studying of butterfly populations. Indication of numerous, common and rare species by visual monitoring;

  • studying zoogeographical peculiarities. Mapping of butterfly distribution patterns;

  • creating of information data base for all fields of butterfly studying;

  • studying of influence of human economic activity and whether on butterfly populations;

  • indication of ecological conditions of natural zones with help butterflies as biological indicators;

  • drawing up of the recommendations on conservation of vulnerable species and their habitats.
