They are now second person instead of first person and have been rewritten to be cleaner. I dislike first person messages because they give the impression that my character is a separate entity to whom I am giving orders.
When I see a message like “Nonsense. My current weapon is already enchanted” it implies that my character has his own thoughts about what he should do that are separate from the instructions I the player gave. “Your current weapon is already enchanted” is perfectly concise and neutral-- the message log should act as a “dungeon master”, not the weird thoughts of my character.
I also got tired of “Damn it, no lockpicks!” “Damn it, my weapon!” “Damn it, no arrows!” because things like that paint a very specific character rather than a general, neutral status indicating why I cannot open that lock.
Lastly, I dislike the convention of ending every sentence with an ellipse instead of a period...
Requiem has an optional module that undoes its specific first person messages, but Skyrim's base 2nd person messages are almost too "gamey" for my tastes. My messages should hopefully strike a middle ground.
