SUBMIT STUDENT Attendance OVER SCHOOLZONE

Families at some schools can now use SchoolZone to report if their child will be absent or late.

If you have questions about whether or not this feature is available at your child’s school, please speak to your school directly.

When you can use SchoolZone to report an absence

You can use SchoolZone to enter your child’s attendance for the upcoming six days. If you would like to report absences for a longer period of time, please contact your child’s school directly.

Your school will only allow you to report absences up to a certain amount of time before class starts each day. Each school selects their own cut-off time. For example, you may have up to 60 minutes before class starts to use SchoolZone to report if your child will be absent or late.

If you’re unable to enter attendance, you are likely past the cut-off period your school has set. In this case, please contact the school directly to notify them that your child will be absent or late.

Homeroom or half-day attendance is reported twice a day, typically for students in Kindergarten to Grade 6. 

To report an absence:

• Navigate to the date your child will be late or absent (remember, you can only use this feature for the upcoming six days)

• Use the dropdown menu to indicate the reason for their absence

• If your child will be away from school for both the morning and afternoon, be sure to select the reason in both the A.M. and P.M. dropdown menus

• Once you have selected the reason for the absence on the relevant date or dates, click ‘Submit Attendance’ to save your changes

Once you’ve entered your child’s attendance, it will take 15 minutes for your school to be notified.

To view your child’s updated attendance for the current month, navigate to the menu and click ‘View Attendance.’

If your child’s school day is divided into periods, you can submit their attendance for each class they have that day. 

To report an absence:

• Navigate to the date your child will be late or absent (remember, you can only use this feature for the upcoming six days)

• Use the dropdown menu for the relevant period/periods to indicate the reason for their absence

• If they will be absent all day, use the ‘Set All’ drop down menu to select the reason for their absence

• Once you have selected the reason for the absence on the relevant date or dates, click ‘Submit Attendance’ to save your changes

Once you’ve entered your child’s attendance, it will take 15 minutes for your school to be notified.
