The Blue Ribbon Rams Club is wrapping up its first year of publishing as the end of the year nears, and with it there have been many different accomplishments and memorable times. 

The club, first started in August of 2024 by Ms.Analisa Sulaica of the ELA Department. It is a new addition to the variety of clubs available at DRHS to students. Within the club, students are given creative liberty to  express themselves through the articles they write and publish monthly, which are available to DRHS students and faculty to read. 

Students explore different topics and news to report on, as well as collaborate with peers within the club to gain knowledge and writing ideas. Students are able to converse and meet with their fellow writers in weekly meetings to write and pitch ideas. This club not only opens up the world of journalism to students through newspaper publication, but also through participation in UIL events such as UIL Journalism. 

When asking members of the BRR club this year how they felt about being a part of the club, we received positive feedback on the club and its contributions. 

“Joining the Blue Ribbon Rams was an unexpected miracle. I heard about it through a friend and thought to check it out…As time went on, I connected with amazing people and an amazing sponsor!” stated Arts and Life Assistant Editor Fernando Trujillo when asked to share his thoughts on the club. 

We also inquired about the goals and aspirations for next year from club members. 

“I hope to improve my writing even more next year while in the club, and hopefully meet more people and write even more articles,” stated Arts and Life Editor Carmen Aldrete. 

The club, though newly established, is sure to grow larger with more members and publications. If you are interested in joining us next year, you can talk to Ms. Sulaica in room 410.
