With the first semester coming to an end soon, and the year getting closer and closer to a close, seniors are preparing themselves to turn the page on their high school experience, and open the next chapter of their lives. With this, seniors and students alike must be especially aware of the approaching college application, scholarship, and FAFSA deadlines that are on the horizon.
This, in and of itself, can cause many graduating students to accumulate stress, which can later reflect poorly on their mental health, academics, and day-to-day life. However, staying aware of what exactly is coming up and your personal goals will help avoid undue stress.
Early action and decision college applications are here, with the first deadlines falling in October and November. However, regular decision deadlines are scheduled for January of 2025.
Applications are super important, so take time to research the schools you wish to apply to when you have the time. Don’t wait until the last minute! Give yourself breathing room to manage the rest of your academic deadlines.
Currently, SAT/ACT deadlines for the first semester are up and coming, so if you have not yet taken your SAT or ACT, do yourself a favor now and sign up! While not all colleges require these scores to apply and be accepted, it can help you to have them. This way, you won’t have to worry whether or not you will need them to apply to your school of choice later on.
On the Del Rio High School campus, College Day is coming up. If you are still unsure of where you want to apply or what you want to do, this is a great opportunity to attend. Students currently attending college will be present to answer any questions you may have and help you develop a better understanding of your goals and future plans.
This is especially important as some scholarship windows are also coming to a close. You can get information about where to apply for scholarships from your counselors or on the College Board website.
Scholarships can help you out tremendously, so take advantage of that fact and take the time to apply to a couple.
And don’t forget–finals for the first semester are on the way!
With the upcoming Thanksgiving break, make sure to study hard and the work you need to pass and get the credits you need to graduate.
Get yourself together, and erase stress from your school life.
