Being a Blue Ribbon Ram
Faith Haley, Junior - 2024/2025 News Editor
vol.1 iss.5 - Dec. 6, 2024
This year, Del Rio highschool welcomed the new journalism club, the Blue Ribbon Rams. In this club, student writers' articles are published bi-weekly, digitally on the club’s web page–available on the Del Rio High School website–and physical copies of each publication are available on campus. Students report on news, arts and life, community events, and much more! If you enjoy sharing your own stories, thoughts, opinions, and more, Blue Ribbon Rams just might be the place for you to let your creativity flow and have your voice heard.
Speaking from my experience as a member of the Blue Ribbon Rams, it has been a great pleasure to serve as a staff writer throughout this first semester of publication. Skills that I may not typically have time to center my focus on–such writing-based, peer collaboration–have been greatly enhanced during my time with the club. In addition to this, I have found an opportunity to improve in my writing style and formatting with the support and guidance of my club coordinator, Ms. Analisa Sulaica.
I love writing, and it is such a fulfilling experience being able to do what I love and share my work with people in my school and community. Ultimately, building a supportive, inclusive space on campus where students can collaborate and share ideas with fellow club members is what Blue Ribbon Rams is truly about. In this environment, you are able to pursue your interests and meet others who feel the same way about writing and journalism. Once on the team, it is so fulfilling to recruit and welcome new members with the same passion and interest in writing.
You, too, can join the Blue Ribbon Rams journalism club and share your stories and thoughts with the entire Del Rio high school community. Meetings are held in room 410 on Mondays and Wednesdays after school with Ms. Sulaica. We hope to see you there.
