Credit-bearing Summer
The credit-bearing summer program allows you to walk away with three transferable college credits.
Adelphi’s Summer Pre-College Program is open to rising sophomores, juniors and seniors in high school.
Dates: July 7-July 27, 2024
Where: Adelphi’s Garden City Campus.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and will continue to be accepted until the program is fully enrolled.
The final day to apply for the 2024 Summer Pre-College Program is June 14, 2024.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Your online application, which can be completed here.
A short essay on your interest in Adelphi’s Pre-College Programs approx. 200 words (submitted on the online application).
A copy of your high school transcript (official or unofficial) that includes your fall 2023 grades.
One completed Recommendation Form from a teacher, guidance counselor or another adult (other than a family member) whom you feel knows you best.
Application fee: $30 non-refundable
ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS
You can upload your completed recommendation form and/or a copy of your transcript with your online application as PDF documents, or you can email them to precollege@adelphi.edu after submitting your application.
We ask that you kindly do not send supplemental documents prior to submitting your online application.
Please note that your application will not be considered complete until both of these documents are received, in addition to receiving your completed online application.
Art Foundations - Drawing and 2D Design: Use the campus as a classroom to explore contour lines, value, composition, and design principles.
Business and Society: Learn more about entrepreneurship, starting a business, and the parameters for success in the business world. -
Computer Science and Coding: Apply the concepts of data types, variables, functions, conditionals, and loops to analyze structured data and learn to code.
Digital Media Production: Filmmaking and TV: Shoot and edit your own short film and develop skills in video editing and visual storytelling.
Future Educators - From High School to Higher Ed: Consider how your own education and background have influenced your interest in teaching and the type of teacher you wish to become.
Introduction to Nursing as a Career and Profession: A glimpse into Nursing education, you will learn about the profession of Nursing and the various roles of a Registered Nurse.
Pre-Law - Understanding the Bill of Rights: Participate in a hands-on and all-inclusive approach to understanding the Bill of Rights. This in-depth analysis of the fundamental basis of our democracy gives students a glimpse of the fields of political science and law.
Pre-Med - Microbiology, Nutrition, and Human Disease: Engage in high-impact learning, participate in hands-on classes and lab experiences, and discover what it takes to pursue a career in the sciences and medicine. -
Psychology and Pop Culture: Analyze issues of social psychology, cross-cultural communication, creativity, identity development, and mental health in numerous domains of popular culture.
Quantum Engineering: Study the properties of quantum particles with hands-on laboratory activities, computer simulations, quantum circuits, and more.
Speech-Language Pathology: Consider the professions of speech-language pathology and audiology and the various roles of certified speech-language pathologists and audiologists.
