Stelly's Culinary Program is committed to reducing food waste; minimizing use of plastics and single-use items; composting the vast majority of waste, which is sent to a processing Convertus facility near Nanaimo; and recycling mostly everything, such as soft plastics, batteries, etc., at the Hartland Landfill. These practices not only involve reducing and managing waste, but they allow students to empower themselves each and every day in our kitchen to take action amidst the climate crisis.Â
