Indigenous Culinary Arts 10-12

This course allows students to explore local Indigenous culture, language, and traditions through hands-on food preparation and activities. FOODSAFE level 1 certification is included in this course. In addition to learning safe kitchen practices, baking and food preparation techniques, students will have the opportunity to learn about Indigenous foods and recipes. Throughout the semester, students will be part of a dynamic learning environment and may be exposed to the SENĆOŦEN language; connecting with the community and Elders; field trips; nature walks; Traditional Ecological Knowledge; project based learning, and hunting and gathering techniques
