Chemistry 11
Welcome!
Chemistry is considered to be the central science in which all things branch from. Chemistry is used everywhere in such things as drugs, medicine, industry, engineering, oil and gas, plastics, science, astronomy, etc.
This subject is a wonderful topic that really challenges students to understand difficult material rather than to simply memorize ideas and names. You must be prepared to work hard, do all the homework, ask questions, and study regularly as we will be covering a lot of really interesting material!
I am always here to help you. You owe it to yourself to seek help and ask questions whenever needed.
Fields of chemistry include… organic, inorganic, biochem, physical, chemical engineering, environmental, synthetic, analytical, mechanistic, reactivity… the list goes on!
Chemistry is one of the best sciences to study because it helps you both understand and appreciate what goes on in you & in the world around us. You will need to be highly motivated and devoted right from the outset if you are to get the grades you seek in this class. If you are not prepared to work hard (there is no reward without effort!), you will have a very difficult time with chemistry as it is a highly academic class at the grade 11 level.
