Math 10

Google Meet: Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:00-11:00 and Fridays (optional) at 12:00

Math 10 has its own google classroom page. The students and I meet using google meet to review lessons, skills: giving the opportunity for students to ask questions, get specific help, or just chat. There are lessons, assignments, and solutions for every section in the textbook. ALL QUESTIONS in the assignments are solved with the solutions fully written out so that students can work on their own more successfully. Parents, please check in with your child and ask him/her to show you their google classroom page. There are many supports in place and many students are getting on board now with how to connect and continue their courses. I have posted a video on the classroom to help the students navigate how to use google classroom and google meet. Maybe you would like to watch it too? Pretty cool stuff!!

Students can open attachments in the CLASSWORK tab for sections for Chapter 2 on Trigonometry, 2.4 lessons, for instance. Along the content from their notes and our google meet video sessions, I also videotape myself SHOWING the students how to do every question.

So, they should be able to, in the very least, write out the solutions to each assignment.

On Fridays, students have the option to join our google meets at 12:00 for an OPTIONAL tutorial hour. They have also been informed that they can request a one-on-one google meet with me at any time! I have also given out my phone number for students to call, text, and the reminder that Whatsup is a great place to do face-to-face talk and support. Students also have my email. jdavies@sd48.bc.ca Students can contact me at any time for a one-on-one google meet too. It is so good to see them in person!

As a form of assessment, I also post a set of weekly questions on Fridays and ask that they respond by the end of the day. This ensures that we can maintain contact and get in the habit of sharing feedback on the google classroom.

Students get daily posts for lessons, video chat times, solutions, daily and weekly communication from being on the google classroom daily. If parents/guardians are aware of how this whole new way of teaching and learning works, it will help your child to discuss concerns with you so you can relate to how they connect and continue their learning on-line. Your support and understanding is so important in helping kids be successful and to help them stay organized, positive and give them the individual help they need to succeed. Please let me know if I can help with anything further.
