Croeso i'r Blwyddyn 4

In year 4 we love to see children become increasingly independent with their learning and the choices that they make. We have independent learning sessions where children can demonstrate that they are able to read instructions and use their initiative to complete tasks.

The majority of our work is differentiated five ways. That means that pupils can choose the right level of challenge to ensure that they progress with their learning and the next challenge is always ready and waiting for them.

Every term we start a new theme. Children think about what they want to learn and what activities they want to do. As teachers, we then plan the learning around and including the children’s suggestions of what they want to do. In this way our planning evolves naturally as the term progresses.

We think that our children are motivated, engaged, enthusiastic and fun!

A typical week for us involves:

• A session in forest school

• Literacy lessons

• Maths sessions including regular maths reasoning activities.

• Welsh 

• Science 

• PE (indoors or outdoors)

• Learning journey (topic)

• Spelling & handwriting practice

• Whole class reading

• Independent learning time.

• Creative time
