We are a team of six adults, two teachers and four teaching assistants who are all classroom based. We all love experiential and authentic learning and have the children’s wellbeing at the heart of everything we plan and do. We ensure life skills are developed as well as academic skills, there’s always a business about our area and it's full of children’s voices eagerly learning through play with their peers.
Our day consists of literacy and numeracy in the mornings where children are focusing on reading, writing and number and during the afternoons the children complete a topic activity linked to their interests as a whole cohort and also what‘s happening in the world around them.
We believe, as a team, that everyone develops at different times and we cater for the stage of learning the children are at and develop individuals through the experiences offered. Play is an important part of early years learning, “Children learn as they play. Most importantly, in play children learn how to learn.” -O. Fred Donaldson
Outdoor learning is also very important to us. It allows the space for children to explore, take risks and develop confidence and self esteem. We rotate the areas we use on a fortnightly basis with gardening and forest school. The children love learning in both areas and we make it as authentic and natural as possible and in any weather. Their favourite is jumping in puddles and getting soaking wet!
