Dr Kate Coleman
Chair of Governors
I became a Community Governor in Autumn 2020. I love living in Undy and I wanted to play a part in ensuring the success of Undy Primary School, because I believe a thriving primary school is a benefit obviously to its pupils but also the wider community. I am passionate about ensuring that all children receive a wide-ranging education that raises their aspirations, offers them opportunities, and celebrates diversity and inclusion. In particular, I am keen to champion music education and supported access to instruments and lessons. I have thoroughly enjoyed the last 2 years, it has been very rewarding and I look forward to attending more events with the staff and children over the coming academic year.

Hello, I’m Jason and I was appointed a Local Education Authority Governor in December 2019. I am a father of three and have worked in Financial Services/IT for 30 years, the last 6 years as an Analyst Developer (Computer Programmer/Data Analyst).
As a former Youth Marching Band musician (I started playing the trumpet at the age of 6), and Judo Coach for 4 to 16 year olds, I am acutely aware of the importance of physical and mental wellbeing and discipline for a young persons’ development, and I’m keen to encourage and promote all activity to support this.
Having undertaken industry recognised training in Cyber Crime/Security and Bullying, I look forward to supporting and guiding the children’s interaction with technology, and educate on the strengths and risks associated with it.

Mr Achmad Evans
Parent Governor
“I became a parent governor in 2022 as a way of being directly involved in supporting the school and giving something back. Although it has only been one term for me, it has been an eye opener and I really look forward to engaging with the school and staff in what will continue to be challenging times.
The school has held several school events this year and, as a parent and governor, it has been great once again to be involved with school activities as we come out of the pandemic. One of the activities which stands out was the brilliant opportunity to play the role of a football manager (on a cold sunny afternoon in Caldicot) as we took part in a football tournament with primary schools across Monmouthshire. It was a pleasure and privilege to see the pupils from Undy Primary represent the school so well.”

Hi, my name is Sarah Clarke. As a new parent governor, I am enjoying learning about the school. There is a warm, welcoming ethos and the children are clearly at the heart of the school. I particularly enjoyed the assembly from Heddlu Bach, it was clear to see that the children are very proud of their responsibilities and their dedication is inspiring. I am looking forward to working as part of the governing body and I hope to offer positive contributions to support the school to continue to thrive.

Hi my name is Lisa Wilson and I’ve worked at Undy Primary since 2012. I started off as a one to one teaching assistant which I loved, then Undy gave me the opportunity to progress and become a Higher Level Teaching Assistant which I’ve been doing since 2018.
I love my job and the people I work with, which certainly makes coming to work enjoyable. I became a governor a couple of years ago for non-teaching staff and it gives me a great insight into how the school is run.
