School Security
The school site is secured by locked gates to the vehicle access, an electric pedestrian gate at the top of the pathway and a fence which demarcates the school boundary. There is a second vehicle gate which is padlocked in the meadow, behind the school's field.
The vehicle gates are closed at 8am, once the majority of staff have arrived on site, and only the side pedestrian gate is then opened again by a member of staff to allow children to enter between 8:45-9am, and then again at the end of the school day at 3:10pm.
The main pedestrian gate is open until 9:10am where children and parents can enter for Breakfast Club and School.
After this time, visitors may only access the school via a buzzer system to the main office. The main school door is also locked with entrance gained only by an electronically operated system. All visitors are required to come through the main entrance and to report to the office. They are required to sign in and out using the ipad system at Reception on entering and exiting the building. Parents who pick up children from school early for medical appointments must sign their child out and similarly if arriving late, sign their child in on this system.
For safety reasons all doors can be opened easily from the inside.
The vehicle and pedestrian gates are reopened at 3.10pm.
This ensures the safety and security of our school community throughout the day.
'School Street', parking and crossing the road
The beginning and the end of each day are very busy times. To help with this, 'School Street' enforces that Pennyfarthing Lane is closed between the School Street signs between 8:30am-9:15am and again from 2:45pm-3:45pm. Please try to not drive between the signs during these times.
If you urgently require to drive through this area, please then do not park directly outside the school gates, on the white zig-zag lines, or in a position which may be blocking the view of pedestrians.
Please be considerate when parking around our school so as not to obstruct any neighbouring driveways.
It is a parent’s responsibility to see the children safely across the road, using the 2 zebra crossings available.
Dogs on School Premises
For health and safety reasons we are unable to allow any dogs on school premises, unless they are Guide or Hearing Dogs. We would ask for parental support with this – if you have a dog with you, please wait outside the school entrance.
Other Important Information
School has a strict No Smoking policy on the school site.
Any person using inappropriate or aggressive language within the school grounds will be requested to leave.
After handover, parents are responsible for their children and their safety. Please do not allow your child to play on the play equipment or run on the grass bank during drop-off and pick-up times.
