Course Outline
This Mathematics course is for students with varied backgrounds and abilities, and is appropriate for those students who do not plan to go on to have a career where mathematical skills feature. It is appropriate for those who would prefer to investigate the applications of mathematics and how technology supports this, and has an emphasis on statistics, modelling, and use of technology.
This course shares a common core with the other IB Mathematics course, and as such students have the opportunity to move to the other route if appropriate during the first half term of the course.
In addition, students will complete a piece of coursework known as their Internal Assessment, which will provide an opportunity for students to carry out a mathematical investigation using skills learned before and during the course.
The nature of means that less formal, shared learning techniques can be more stimulating and rewarding for students.
