Preparation for Higher Education / University
Our Higher Education Pathway is a comprehensive programme of information, advice, support and guidance for students choosing to apply to universities, conservatoires and other Higher Education Institutions. Students are guided through the entire application process whether applying within the UK or further afield. We are proud that many of our students take a global perspective to the post-18 studies, applying to universities in Europe, the USA, Canada and even further afield.
We provide all students with individual support with their applications via teachers, tutors and university admissions staff. Our taught sessions include:
Identifying your personal values
Choosing courses and institutions
Writing your personal statement
Making your application
Choosing your accommodation
Budgeting whilst at university
Grants, bursaries and scholarships
Universities from across the UK attend the annual Higher Education Fair, where our students are able to ask representatives questions specific to their particular needs and aspirations. We are delighted each year that many of our former students return as local representatives of their universities, and share their experiences of university with our current students.
Students considering a career in Medicine, Veterinary Medicine and Dentistry have the opportunity to take part in the Medical Specialist Group’s popular Taste of Medicine course, or to undertake work experience in related areas.
Students applying to Oxford or Cambridge receive additional support with their applications, including a bespoke visit to both universities, mentoring from an Oxbridge graduate and interview practice.
