As the Bailiwick’s state provider of academic post-16 education, we take our responsibility to develop the next generation of Guernsey's community very seriously.
Successful learners
-
Confident individuals
-
Responsible citizens
-
Effective contributors
Our aims are to develop:
Successful learners who approach learning with enthusiasm and motivation, a determination to reach high standards of achievement and an openness to new thinking and ideas. We achieve this through the latest evidence-informed education practice both in terms of high-quality, inclusive teaching and the development of students' independent learning, self- organisation and time management strategies.
Confident individuals who approach learning with self-respect, a sense of physical, mental and emotional wellbeing, secure values and beliefs and an ambition to fulfil their potential. We achieve this not only via academic success, but also through the experiences we offer. These include the Duke of Edinburgh Silver and Gold Awards Scheme, the Institute of Directors’ Leadership Shadowing programme, Young Enterprise scheme, the opportunities to perform take part in musical, dramatic or sporting performances.
Responsible citizens who approach learning with respect for others and a commitment to participate responsibly in political, economic, social and cultural life. We realise this through our Personal Development programme, annual Deputies’ Forums, work experience placements and entrepreneurship opportunities, and the volunteering and service components of our enrichment programme.
Effective contributors who possess an enterprising attitude, resilience and self-reliance, and are equipped to communicate in different ways and in different settings. Our students work in partnership and in teams in both lessons and enrichment activities, they take the initiative and lead both as prefects and as volunteers, and they apply critical thinking in new contexts, creating and being able to solve problems throughout their studies and beyond, into the world of work and the community.
