Theatre will teach you to be marketable in the job industry upon graduation. Through auditions, performances, technical work, work-based learning, portfolio and résumé building, you will gain skills that will help you to secure and keep a job. You will learn many skills including acting, writing scripts, designing and operating lighting and sound, working on technical elements including costuming makeup and props, organizing and running shows, effective leadership, history of entertainment and theatre, set design, set construction, and much much more. You can specialize in one or more of these areas of emphasis and gain skills that are transferrable to any job market. Students have the opportunity to compete, travel, and get certified in numerous ares of concentration. Performances are frequent, so everyone has plenty of chances to participate.
Theatre also helps you to become college ready by providing scholarships through the international academic honor society: Thespians. Theatre students are eligible for scholarships, competitions, and national travel for events in the field.
The entry into the theater strand is the class Theater 1. You can perform right away by auditioning and rehearsing for the next play during 8th period as well.
Students must complete three years of increasing advancement to complete the pathway.
