AFJROTC is a leadership and citizenship program that helps students grow in confidence, responsibility, and teamwork while learning about aerospace, aviation, and the role of the U.S. Air Force in history and today’s world. The program is designed for students with a wide range of interests and does not require a commitment to military service.
As AFJROTC cadets, students learn how to work as part of a team, communicate clearly, and lead with integrity. Instruction focuses on personal responsibility, goal setting, time management, and respect for others. Students explore what it means to be a good citizen and how leadership skills apply to school, careers, and everyday life.
In the classroom, students study aerospace science, including the principles of flight, basic aeronautics, space exploration, and how aviation has shaped modern society. Lessons are hands-on and discussion-based, helping students connect science concepts to real-world applications.
Students also participate in wellness and fitness activities that emphasize healthy habits, physical fitness, and personal discipline. These activities are designed to be inclusive and supportive, focusing on improvement rather than competition.
AFJROTC includes structured activities such as drill and ceremonies, where students learn teamwork, attention to detail, and following instructions through coordinated movement and group practice. Cadets also take part in service learning projects, giving back to the school and local community while building pride and responsibility.
By the end of their first year, students gain stronger self-confidence, leadership foundations, and practical skills that support success in high school and beyond—whether they plan to attend college, enter a particular career pathway, or explore future service opportunities.
