Before you look at pathway options, take a minute to think about what fits you. Your answers will help highlight pathways that may fit you better and dim pathways that may fit you less right now. You can still choose any pathway.
(These are prompts only; the actual answers are collected in the Form.) Focus on these answers for yourself in helping to choose the pathway that is best suited to your needs right now.

Welcome back. I’ll be reading my thoughts again to be sure that I don’t forget anything. Let’s spend a little time talking about how you can think through choosing a pathway. A lot of students worry they need to already know exactly what they want to be when they grow up. You don’t. What does matter is choosing something you’re willing to take seriously and grow in over time.
When you’re looking at pathways, ask yourself a few simple questions.
First: Do I have at least some curiosity about this field?
Second: Am I willing to stick with it for more than one year?
And third: Does this pathway teach skills that would still help me even if my plans change later?
Good pathways don’t just teach technical skills. They teach you how to communicate, solve problems, manage your time, and work with people—skills that matter in every career and every community. Your pathway teacher will guide you through projects, certifications, college credit, work-based learning, and leadership experiences. The students who benefit most are the ones who care the most about their own growth and treat their pathway like something that belongs to them. You’re not doing this alone. Your teachers, counselors, and I are here to help you think through decisions. I also ask that you talk with other adults in your life who you trust. Build strong relationships with those adults. They have gone through more of this life and have wisdom that will help you on your journey. I’m looking forward to working with you more as you move forward. Take your time, be thoughtful, and choose a pathway that helps you become the kind of adult you want to be.

Even if your future field isn’t listed here, one of these pathways can still be the right place to practice the skills you’ll need.
Choose a pathway for fit and growth, not popularity or “easy.”
