***Please join us on Thursday, June 8th after school for a Presentation of Learning @ LMEC!
Welcome to Phase 1 of your project (Sections A, B, and C on your Inspection Record). During this first phase, you design the floor plan of your house within the codes and regulations specified by the City of San Diego DSD. When designing your house, think about functionality. In other words, you want your house to be easy to move around in, and you want your house to be comfortable. Your house should reflect your likes and dislikes. Some people like big houses with lots of space; others like small, cozy houses. If you like fireplaces, then put a fireplace in. Have you always wanted a bathroom in your room? If so, put a bathroom in your room.
During this phase, creativity, attention to detail, and perseverance will pay off in a big way. Getting your plans approved by Development Services Department can be a long process. Read closely the codes and regulations on this site. Of course, ask the city employees at the DSD if you have questions, but also don't be afraid to ask your friends who are working along side you. Remember, one good deed deserves another. In other words, don't be afraid to ask for help, and don't hesitate to help someone in need. We are all a team!
