Snakes in Denim
by Star Henwood '25
Slithering with the most treacherous eyes.
Cursed to crawl filled with hate and envy.
Bitter to most, especially to I.
Forced to kill to feel, mind in a frenzy.
Act as a friend but speaks as if foe.
Your words are laced with disgusting venom.
You bring me death like the omen the crow.
You evil snake, hiding scales in denim.
Gleaming rhinestone eyes fueling the fire.
Mocking and rude you choke the dreams of your prey.
You miscalculated something so dire,
A mistake that will make you want to pray.
I am no mouse, I too ooze with venom.
We are both just snakes with scales in denim.
How to be a Girl: A Fifteen Step Guide
by Allie Meier '25
Fifteen amazing steps on how to be a girl:
Step one
Think that you have to be super skinny in order to be pretty
Step two
Hate what you see in the mirror
Step three
Wear short skirts and shorts
Step four
Wear tons of makeup to hide your flaws
Step five
Have no flaws
Step six
Learn how to ignore the comments made by other people
Step seven
If you think you're being followed pretend you’re on the phone
Step eight
Speak quietly and kindly, a girl must put up with the meanness in this world
Step nine
Don’t eat too much because you will be called a pig,
but don’t eat too little because you will be asked to “eat a burger”
Step ten
Don’t cry in public, it adds to the stigma that all women are oversensitive
Step eleven
Get good grades, but also have a social life
If you don’t have one then no one will know you exist
Step twelve
Walk tall, don’t slouch
Step thirteen
Don’t walk home alone at night
Step fourteen
Don’t speak your opinion, it will get overlooked
Step fifteen
Hide your interests that aren’t trendy, you will get made fun of
