Caleb

It might be the end of March, but I will continue the S.O.L. challenge. Which means "A Night On Timber Oak Lane" will be continued in chapter 2! Stay tuned!

Day 22

A Night On Timber Oak Lane Chapter 1 Part 7

The tar monster was up next. A nasty stench spewed into the house. It smelled like burnt, rotten eggs. Dominic threw the Devil’s flaming pitchfork into his face, but the tar monster expanded! A loud gurgling sound filled their eardrums. “Oh no! We can’t destroy it with fire, but maybe with ice,” Caleb exclaimed. Luckily, the freezer had a whole bucket of ice. Caleb sprinted to the freezer and opened the door. He lifted the heavy ice bucket and asked Dominic to help him carry it. It was REALLY heavy. They used up all of their strength and chucked the bucket at the tar monster as hard as they could. When it hit the monster, smoke came from its mouth. As the monster groaned, it slowly turned into molten lava. The monster’s remains slid under their shoes and the rubber started to smoke. “Let’s get some water on these before they burn,” Dominic said to Caleb. They dashed to the bathroom and turned on the faucet in the bath tub. They stepped into the water as a sizzling sound rose into the air. That was a close one!

Now for the Girl and Bloody Mary. What looked like lightning slowly shot out of their hands, trying to tug them into the world of mirrors. But Caleb thought fast and grabbed a glass cup from the kitchen and blocked the lightning. Since it was glass, there was a reflection which bounced the lightning back at the creepy girls. They swiftly floated into the mirror. After that, the boys smashed the mirror so they couldn’t come back out. Good. Then, all the dead (or undead) bodies formed into a cloud and went straight down, going through the floor. I’m assuming they went back to the underworld. Huh. Well, I guess that shows kids a lesson. Never enter a creepy house ever again. Especially on Friday The 13th.

Oh, by the way, Caleb and Dominic both survived. YAAAAAAAY! And that night will stamp something into their brain for the rest of their lives. Whenever they faced a problem, no matter how bad it seemed at the time, they knew they can always rely on each other to survive.

Day 21

A Night On Timber Oak Lane Chapter 1 Part 6

Jeff was a little bit harder, though. His machete glowed from the reflection of the moon. He swung at Dominic, but missed. Dominic trucked him, and he fell hard to the ground, but he got back up. But Caleb put his knife near Jeff’s heart and pushed him face forward to the ground. The knife sliced him like butter, making a sound that you could never forget.

Freddy Krueger slashed his claws. Dominic and he had a fight. The clang of metal clashing in the air. Dominic ducked RIGHT when the scissor fingers dove to his face. Dominic punched him in the, well, you know, and Freddy let out a yell. When he was distracted, Caleb took the pitchfork from Dominic and stuck it right into Freddy Kruger’s face. He let out a scream, and then slowly melted into a black and red liquid. Yuck!

Day 20

Why Caleb?

Why did you name me Caleb?

  • Liked the name

  • Mom almost had me too early, could’ve died if she did give birth to me at that time. At that time, Dad already liked the name Caleb. Realizing the severity of the circumstances, my Dad took note of the Biblical meaning of the name Caleb. If I was to be born too early, his hope was that his faith and the Biblical name Caleb would help me be “fearless in the face of overwhelming odds”.

What would my name be if I was a girl?

Julia

Why?

Liked the name, and loved the nickname “Jewels”. As a coincidence, Dad had just opened a jewelry store called Diamonds in Company. Jewelry and Jewels we so close together.

If I was a boy but you didn’t name me Caleb, what would it be?

Christian Michael Doyon Jr. My full name is Caleb Raymond Doyon. Raymond is from my Pepere.

Why?

Because my Dad wanted me to have the same name as him.

Day 19

The Last Play

I was in my last basketball game, score tied 15-15. 5:56 seconds left. If nobody gets one in, then we go into the 5 quarter. And believe me, both teams were SO worn out. If we make it in, we win. If they make one in, we lose. It was all up to my team and I to get a basket in.

“Subs,” shouted the referee.

Yes! It was my turn to go in. Five of my teammates came in, Michael, Josh, Noel, Blake, and Boston. Then me and my other teammates stepped onto the court, Me (Caleb), Skyler, Troy, Dylan and Boston. We only had nine players on the team, and Boston wasn’t that tired, so we took him with us. We were playing the other Saco team and my friend Broden was on that team, so I picked to guard him. After we were all paired up, the referee announced “Blue ball,” and that’s when it begun.

I decided that I would pass the ball in, and I threw a small bounce-pass to Dylan. After that, I went to my position and got into my stance. Dylan came jogging down the court, and then he juked his defender. He passed it to Boston, and Boston shot. It was about to go in, but this super tall kid named Spencer blocked him and grabbed the ball. Great, I thought. This is gonna take a while.

After about two and a half minutes of going back and forth, Dylan finally got the ball and started to jog down the court. When he got to the top of the key (the middle of the three point line), he stopped and he looked around for someone to pass to. He finally found Skyler, and he threw a quick chest pass right to his stomach. Skyler dribbled to the top of the key, and his defender was blocking him so good, that it made Skyler stop dribbling. Now we were in deep doo-doo. Thirty seconds were left on the clock, and it was going by fast. Then, I saw Dylan starting to run right to me, and I didn’t know what was going on at first. But then I finally remembered from practice on Thursday, he’s setting a screen! A screen is when you are being blocked by a defender when you are trying to get open for a pass, and then your teammate comes in and blocks the defender by letting the defender run right into your teammate, and you have time to get open for a pass.

As soon as he got there, I took off. He stood as still as a statue, getting ready for a big hit. Meanwhile, I was running right past Dylan getting open for a pass. Seven seconds left! Skyler saw a glimpse of me and did a smooth bounce pass right to me. Three seconds left! I caught it and chucked it up onto the backboard. One second! BANG! SSHHWWWSSHHH! BLEEEEEEP! We won! We won! Everyone on my team was cheering for me, Skyler and Dylan. There was screaming everywhere, and it hurt my ears. Sweat was trickling down my hair and forehead, my face was bright red, and there was so much sweat on my head, it made it look like it just rained on me. Boy, that was one of the best feelings in my life.

Day 18

The Grand Slam

The Grand Slam

By Caleb Doyon

On one blistering hot, sunny day, I was at my baseball game, and I was up to bat. I approached home plate, feeling the pitcher glaring at me. The bases were loaded. I took my final step and got into my batting position. Then, I held my bat over my shoulder, ready to swing.

The inside of my batting gloves were sweaty, making them slip. Sweat was trickling down my hair and ears. My hands were shaking, because I knew this pitcher is a VERY fast pitcher, and when I say fast, I mean fast.

The pitcher wound up, and chucked a nasty curve ball that slammed my leg. Sharp pain rushed through my thigh, making me bend down to hold it. My coach went over and asked if I was okay, and I was fine. But the ump said that I had to take the base. No way would I do that! I wanted to hit again. I argued with him for a minute, and we finally agreed that I could have another chance. He said it counted as a ball, but I was okay with that.

I sprinted back to home plate and picked up my bat. The pitcher was winding up, when a mosquito flew into my eye, and it blocked my sight! He pitched it, right over home plate. “Strike!” called the umpire. Dangit, Caleb, I thought. Get your head in the game.

I stayed in position, because I didn’t move the last pitch. This time, I had to hit it. But two pitches went by, just balls. Great. Now my count is 3-1. Throw a good one, already. If he throws one more ball, I have to walk. I don’t want to do that. I guess I was too deep in my thoughts, because he threw one straight over the plate. Come on! If I miss one more strike, then I’m out. For the final time, I got back into position, ready to swing.

The pitcher caught the ball from the catcher, stepping back onto the mound. As he got ready to pitch, I raised one eyebrow to confuse him. I’ll be honest, he did look a little shaky. He threw the ball a little high, but I swung as hard as I could, to hear the clang of metal and a solid shake in my bat. The ball glided into the air, and I bolted as fast as I could. Boy, I slammed the hell out of that sucker! I knew I could make it to at least third, so I started to curve on first base, and slapped the bag with my foot. I started to turn again, glancing up into the air to see the ball just touching the ground, behind the fence! I just got an out of the park grand slam! Everybody was cheering and hollering, and I was very proud running the bases. I just hit my first grand slam.

After that game, we went to Waterboro House of Pizza, (which was the last of the season) and had the biggest pizza party ever. Yumm!

Day 16

A Night On Timber Oak Lane Part 5

Pennywise snuck up behind them. Luckily, Caleb brought a bat on the way out of the old house. He whacked him, very hard. He fell to the ground, turning into a red balloon. Dominic popped it with the pitchfork. Blood sprayed EVERYWHERE, covering the walls with blood and gore.

Jason brought out his chainsaw, but they just poured some water on it. And it turns out, Caleb does karate, so he gave Jason a butterfly kick to the face. He cried out and fell to the ground. Caleb suffocated him by putting his foot up to his neck and pushing down as hard as he could. Jason wiggled and squirmed, but then slowly stopped. Dominic kicked him as hard as he could to see if he was dead. Ouch!

Day 11 A Night On Timber Oak Lane Part 3

Annabelle grabbed Caleb’s leg. He kicked her off. Dominic passed the knife to Caleb as Slenderman was coming to them. He reached his slimy arms out to Caleb. He cut them off. They heard a very loud squeal. Slenderman fell to ground as his head fell off. Dead. Nine to go. But the ghouls started up again. Tugging their bodies so they could have a life again. They were able to able to fight back. In the corner of the room, there was a vacuum. Perfect! Caleb reached out and turned it on. The ghouls slowly drifted away. The demons HATED that sound, and their heads blew up. Seven left.

The Devil was a BIG problem. His tail looked like a razor-sharp spear that swung in the darkness. His maroon pitchfork shined in the light. He tried to spear Caleb with his tail, but Caleb caught it! He took the knife from earlier and again, cut something off. The Devil’s tail! The Devil let out a groan, and then Dominic grabbed his pitchfork and stabbed him, turning the Devil into red dust that drifted away in the wind. Awesome!

Day 10

A Night On Timber Oak Lane Part 2

Just then, they heard the door break down. The monsters! Tar fell into the house, along with the other monsters. Unfortunately, Chucky beat them to the kitchen and grabbed a knife. “Hi, I’m Chucky. Wanna plaaayyy?” He said in a creepy voice. They ran into the dining room. “Where are you going? The party has JUST begun!” Chucky laughed. It sounded like a wet cough. Caleb stared and horror, but Dominic went into action. He ran right up to Chucky and stepped on his face! Chucky yelped and let go of the knife. Then Caleb dove into action. He caught the knife before it hit the ground and passed it to Dominic. He cut Chucky’s head off! Nice. But then they forgot. THE OTHER MONSTERS WERE IN THE HOUSE!

Day 9

A Night On Timber Oak Lane Part 1

One dark, scary night, two boys named Caleb Doyon and Dominic Hussey entered a creepy old house on Timber Oak Lane on Friday the 13th, the scariest night of all.

They were heading to the basement. It was very dark and musty. As they peered into the darkness, there was a mirror. They looked at themselves for a second. All of a sudden, a girl appeared behind them. They slowly turned around, nobody was there. When they rotated back, she was in front of them!

You could not see her face, hair was covering it. She was in a white gown. They turned to run but a gleam in front of them stopped them. They squinted into the darkness, and they were there. Freddy Krueger, Annabelle, Chucky, Pennywise the clown, Jason, Jeff The Killer, The Devil, Demons, Ghouls, and The Girl. They surrounded the two boys.. They were screaming, “HELP! HELP!” Then, they felt something trying to pull them, but they looked around, nobody was there! The ghosts were trying to take their bodies! They had no choice, but to run. They dashed through the crowd, pushing and squeezing. The boys raced up the stairs and out of the house, screaming at the top of their lungs. The street lights flickered and and blew up. The street rose up and became a hideous tar monster. “AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!” They screamed and ran to the unfinished house down the lane. The ghouls appeared in front of them and they ran through them, literally. They sprinted into the unfinished garage and into the house. A white mist poured into the house, and Slenderman appeared! Black, slimy arms reached out to grab them. Dominic pulled Caleb out from the grasp of one. “Thanks.” He whispered, wiping the slime off his sleeve.

Day 5

The Back Dive

On a hot, summer day on July 18, 2014, I was at my grandparent’s house swimming in the pool. I was playing with my brother, Braydon, when I heard an applause. It turns out, my little sister Annabelle just did a back dive! A back dive is the same thing as a dive, but you bend the other way and you look the opposite way of I was very jealous because Annabelle had all the attention and I didn’t. So I got out of the pool and got into position, to do a back dive.

To be honest, I was really scared. I’ve heard stories before about people cracking their head open on the cement and died. I gulped as I slowly edged toward the pool. The pool sounded like a soft ocean wave, splashing against the liner of the pool. It seemed to whisper, “You can’t do it, Caleb! You’re too scared!” But I knew the voices weren’t real. I shouted to my grandparents, “I’m gonna do a back dive, too! Watch me!” I did the exact same thing if I were to do a dive, but I turned backwards and bent my arms the other direction. Then, I jumped off the cement, and started to bend in mid-air.

I was ready to hear the soft, splashing water, beating against my eardrums, but instead, I felt a sharp, rushing pain bolt through my neck and back and I heard a loud, unsettling CCRRRRAAAAAACCKKK! As I tumbled into the water like a heavy stone, I screamed and started to lose air, accidentally swallowing what seemed like a gallon of water. I remember struggling to move because I couldn’t breathe, and I aggressively clawed at the wall. I finally got a hold on the edge of the pool and I slowly pulled myself back up to the surface, gasping for air. I was crying, but you couldn’t tell because my face was wet from the pool.

My grandfather rushed over to me and hoisted me up into the air, and my grandmother got me a towel. As she wrapped me in a taco like form, they both cradled me like I was a baby. I couldn’t quite remember what happened after that, but I do remember waking up in my bed, in cozy pajamas. I heard the television playing, and squeaking of sneakers on a basketball court. My grandfather was watching basketball without me! I lurched out of bed and tiptoed onto the couch, snuggling right next to my grandfather, the fire blazing and crackling. I stopped crying, but whenever I bent my back too far, I started up again. It turns out that my sister slipped on the cement and accidentally did a back dive. I don’t know how, but she did it. I knew I would have aches and bruises there for a while, but at least I would make it.

Day 4

The Attack

Today, I went to my friend’s house. We didn’t know what to do, so we decided to play in the snow. We found out that his cousins were coming over, so we wanted to do something like a prank. We decided we should attack them with snowballs as they were pulling in.

We made a snow fort with walls and snowballs, and finally we were ready throw. When we were building, his cousin pulled in, but we didn’t notice! After they parked, I finally noticed and told him, “There he is!” We started launching snowballs, but it was too late.

When he got out, we went up to him and asked him if he wanted to see our fort, so we showed him. He thought it was pretty cool, so he decided to build his own space, and so did my friend.

After that, we pretended to fight zombies with shovels, and we did that for about an hour and a half. Then, my friends cousin had to leave, and when he left, I had to also. After that, I went home, sat on the couch and watched TV.

Day 3

The Woods

Today, my friend’s sisters, my sister, my friend and I were pretending we were on a spy mission in Picard Pit. Eventually, one of our missions was “Follow the River”, which my friend thought it led to his house. We followed it for about 10 minutes. But then, when we looked around, we didn’t know where we were!

We look around for a good 20 minutes but found nothing. My friend’s youngest sister started crying. Eventually, all of the girls were crying. My friend and I were the only ones who could handle the cold. At one point, we had to cross the river on a log, but the girls didn’t. After the girls ran through the water, the youngest one wouldn’t cross because she thought she would sink. So I was the only one who could give her a piggyback ride, so I had to run through the river in my sneakers and jeans to go get her and bring her back across the river.

About 10-15 minutes later, my friend saw something he had seen before and he knew where we were! Shortly after, we found the pit. I was so happy, I literally cried. We walked through the pit and back to my house, where we sat in front of a nice warm fire and played Fortnite on my Xbox.
