本研究室は、英語教育に関する領域の中でも、言語習得・言語処理を専門としています。特に、英語を学習している人の言語能力の発達はどのように測定することができるのか、またそれはどのように発達していくのか、に興味があります。

This laboratory specializes in language acquisition and language processing within the area of English language education. In particular, we are interested in how the development of language proficiency can be measured in English learners and how it develops.

中学生や高校生の英語力の発達を観察し、その変化を把握するために、作文を書いてもらったり、スピーキングテストを受けてもらったりしています。そして収集したデータを分析し、その成果を教育現場に還元することを目標としています。

We observe the development of English language skills in junior high and senior high school students and ask them to write essays and take speaking tests so as to understand the changes in their English language skills. Our goal is to analyze the data we collected and apply the results to the educational field.

ここのところ取り組んでいるのは、英語スピーキング力の縦断的な発達研究です。ある高等学校に通う104名の皆さんに、高校1年生の夏から高校3年生の夏まで、8回に渡ってスピーキングテストを受けてもらいました。そのデータをさまざまな観点から、コーパス言語学の手法を用いて、分析しているところです。

One of the recent projects we have been working on is a longitudinal developmental study of English speaking ability. We asked 104 students at one senior high school to take the speaking test eight times from the summer of their first year to the summer of their third year. The data is being analyzed from a variety of perspectives using corpus linguistics techniques.
