For this assignment we were instructed to pick an iconic person - fictional or not- and create a three dimensional bust of that person including some conceptual element. I chose to do Audrey Hepburn because she is one of my personal idols and I look up to her work on a lot of different platforms, for me she represents strength in femininity which I think is a beautiful and powerful idea. The conceptual element I chose was to write "i'm possible" across her chest because that is an excerpt from arguably one of her most famous quotes "Nothing is impossible, the word itself says 'I'm possible'!" For me, that specific excerpt of that quote could mean a few things, one obviously being the way Audrey meant it when she said it but another interpretation, one that I personally feel connected to, is the idea that what Audrey Hepburn achieved in her life is possible for any little girl or person of any age looking up to this beautiful, poised, talented woman as an inspiration. For materials I used clay for the entire thing except the finishing touches which I did in paint. I really struggled working with the clay sometimes because it takes a very careful hand and it is a thought out process which are both things that I really struggle with sometimes. I also have lost a lot of motivation in art this last quarter and as much as I regret to say it that has become apparent in my last couple pieces of the year, I will talk more about that in my final reflection and artist statement for my concentration project but I just feel as though I could have done Audrey Hepburn a lot more justice had I worked better on my time management and attention to detail.
