Surrealism Collage and Painting

The subject of my artwork is an abstract underwater setting, which was inspired by the Swedish Fish I was eating at the time. This project was made using acrylic paints, and is very loosely based off of my initial collage. My original plan was to paint a comical image of a horse's head on a woman's body standing in front of a blue background. However, after painting my background I realized that it looked a lot like the ocean, and I also realized that I was not skilled enough of a painter to put a horse's head on the human body. This was when I decided to completely divert my project over to the abstract Swedish Fish painting. The elements of design I used in this project were color, value, texture, and pattern.

I honestly don't like the way this project turned out because it looks more like a six year old made it, than it looks abstract. I would add more to the painting but the deadline to get work in is in 3 days, and I simply don't have the time to do that. If I created another work like this I would have more trust in my painting skills and go with my original plan.
